GardaWorld released the following in response to reports that one of its armoured vehicles was stolen in a Montreal neighbourhood on Dec. 21:

GardaWorld Cash Services, a subsidiary of Garda World Security Corporation ("GardaWorld"), the largest privately owned security services company in the world, today commented on several inaccuracies formulated by certain sources related to last evening's robbery in Anjou.

As a leader in security, GardaWorld always works to develop armoured transportation best practices above and beyond the minimum requirements imposed by the government. Our protocols are strict and designed to protect our people and prevent incidents. We work in close partnership with the union to offer the best working conditions for our employees, which have been recently ratified in our collective bargaining agreement.

At GardaWorld, throughout the years, we have developed rigorous training for all our cash services agents and high tech armoured trucks to enhance the protection of our people. This technology surpasses regulations. Our progressive management style, including the fluid revision of our protocols and security measures, as well as our agents' equipment differentiate us from industry standards. We worked with the Armoured Car Association and "Bureau de la sécurité privée" in Quebec over the past years and contributed to improved government standards. As an example, we partnered with the "École nationale de police du Québec" to adapt our armoured car training created 10 years ago; this training has become mandatory.

Statistically, it is not proven that crew count contributes to best protect the armoured car professionals. Today, nearly all armoured transportation services in the US and Canada are done with a two-person crew. We are far from European countries such as UK and Belgium which are highly regulated and operate one-person crews. Nothing replaces great training and vigilant employees who respect procedures. It is recognized within the industry that strictly following the security protocols is the best way to protect ourselves in combination with technology, proper equipment and certified training, including fire arm manipulation.

GardaWorld is fully cooperating with the SPVM in charge of the ongoing investigation of the robbery that occurred last night in Anjou. We can't comment any further or provide any other details about the event.
