GATINEAU, Que. — More details have emerged about the two men who died in last Friday's shooting at a daycare in Gatineau, Que.

Gatineau police say one of the two men is a 38-year-old French citizen, whose parents live in France. Police haven’t yet provided the man’s name and wouldn’t say whether he was the gunman.

Earlier authorities identified the other man as Robert Charron. Police have not determined a motive.

None of the 53 children at the daycare were injured in Friday’s shooting. But Gatineau police Chief Mario Harel said it’s likely at least some of the kids witnessed the violence at the Montessori daycare, operated in two side-by-side homes.

Police were called to the scene at 10:27 am. Once inside the home, they found the body of a man lying next to what appeared to be a shotgun. A short time later, the body of the other man was located in the second house, police said.

Officers were still at the scene on Saturday collecting evidence. “The investigation is still underway and the two crime scenes have been secured,” Gatineau police said in a statement.
