Edmonton prison guard charged with sex assault against female guard
By The Canadian Press
News Industry NewsEdmonton police have charged a former prison guard with sexually assaulting a female co-worker.
Police say the man also faces a charge of assault with a weapon against the woman.
The alleged crimes happened at the maximum-security Edmonton Institution before 2017, when the Correctional Service Canada alerted police.
A lawsuit filed last year by four female guards claims they suffered prolonged abuse from male colleagues that included sexual taunts, waterboarding and pepper spray left on a toilet seat.
Graham Trevor Spilsbury, who is 50, was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Police say they cannot release further details as they continue to investigate other allegations.
