On Aug. 11, Canadian Security magazine and Debbie Bodkin presented a webinar on PTSD and stress-related injuries.

During the webinar, “Understanding the effects of PTSD and developing coping mechanisms,” sponsored by VFIS of Canada and Homewood Health, Bodkin shared personal insights on how stress injuries can profoundly affect the course of a person’s life.

Bodkin served as a police officer for more than 20 years and also participated in overseas missions in Kosovo, Chad and Sudan. In this webinar, Bodkin charted her personal journey and the events that led her to her current profession as a trainer and instructor for the Mental Health First Aid Course. She shared personal stories, which help to explain the toll that stress injuries can take on first responders, as well as the coping mechanisms that helped her recover.

The 45-minute session was presented live and registered participants were able to contact Bodkin through the webinar tool for questions and follow-up in a 15-minute Q&A session.

Canadian Security magazine’s next webinar will be held Sept. 21 at 2 PM EST: “Understanding the Cloud from a Security Perspective,” presented by Cory Freed, senior corporate counsel with Microsoft Canada. Registration is now open, so please assure your spot.
