By Staff
News Industry NewsAccording to a report published by CTV News, CN Tower security staff recently discovered a loaded gun in a backpack during a routine security check.
The weapon was found in a backpack belonging to an American tourist last Friday as the result of a metal detector screening process. The owner of the gun has been charged with several firearm offences, but police are treating the situation as potentially a case of misunderstanding.
“He was not there targeting somebody,” Toronto Police Const. David Hopkinson told CTV Toronto. “This may have been a simple mistake of what our laws are, compared to what the American laws are.”
