KINGSTON, Ont. — Police in Kingston, Ont., say a 26-year-old man faces several charges related to an alleged assault on security guards at a liquor store.

The incident happened last Thursday evening, when police say the man attempted to walk out of the store with two bottles of liquor in his pants. When confronted by security, police say the suspect refused to give the bottles back and eventually a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, police say the man grabbed one of the guards and “smashed his head through a glass wall.” They say a customer then helped security subdue the man, and he was taken into police custody.

He’s charged with theft, assault and breach of probation, and he appeared in court for a bail hearing on Friday. The security guard suffered a laceration above his eye.
