Jim Brown, most recently Director of the Professional Imaging and Display Solutions group at Panasonic Canada Inc., has announced the formation of James B Brown Consulting Inc. to provide management consulting and professional speaking with a primary focus on the electronic security industry.

Brown brings almost 35 years of industry experience to this new endeavour. He spent 14 years at ADT holding General Management positions in the alarm division before creating the Integrated Systems Group for Canada. From there he moved to The Diebold Company of Canada, Limited, serving as vice-president of the Canadian Operations where he established their integrated systems group.

He then spent almost two years at Cansec Systems Ltd where he was president before moving to Panasonic. His Panasonic career was highlighted by his role as technology leader for Panasonic Canada’s role at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

With a unique blend of knowledge and experience as both a systems integrator and a manufacturer, Brown believes that he can fill a void in the consulting industry by dealing with management issues in the areas of leadership, strategic planning, employee development and sustainable profitability.

Brown says, “An independent opinion can often be much more pragmatic and devoid of the politics or personal agendas that often exist in companies, small or large.  Because I have had experience with start-up situations; turnaround challenges; acquisitions and mergers; and growing mature business segments, I believe that I offer a unique and compelling service at a time when growth prospects are at a premium.”
