Security has come a long way in the last decade but clearly there is still more work to be done to make the industry a more supportive and welcoming environment for women. This session will examine some of the initiatives that are helping to drive the industry in the right direction and offer solutions to accelerate that change.


Elizabeth Parks, president and chief marketing officer, Parks Associates
As president, Elizabeth supports all teams within Parks Associates, a woman- and family-owned market research and consulting firm. She oversees research topics and coverage areas for the company and directs the integrated strategic communications plan for Parks Associates, including advertising, public relations, and marketing.

Elizabeth has supported the growth of Parks Associates business and marketing services for 23 years and is the key organizer for all of Parks Associates’ events, including Parks Associates signature event CONNECTIONS. She also drives the overall mission to provide clients with the best consumer and industry research and analysis on the SMB and consumer technology markets to inform strategic market decisions.

Elizabeth joined Parks Associates on a full-time basis after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in psychology.


Floria Chiu, enterprise account executive, Allied Universal Canada
Floria Chiu is a customer solutions and security services professional, with 23 years of industry experience. Floria joined the management team at Allied Universal with a specific mandate to develop and implement nationwide best practices in service delivery. With the support of the senior management team, a key component of Floria’s responsibility included the development and continued improvement of national support services to ensure that the business delivered services above industry standards.

As a seasoned professional in the security industry, Floria is an ardent supporter of women in security & young professionals, mentoring and encouraging individuals to find their career path. Floria was recently recognized by the Security Industry Association SIA Women in Security Forum Power 100 2022.

Floria holds a BA in politics and public administration from Ryerson University. She has also completed Miller Heiman’s Large Account Management Processes program and the G4S Regional Leadership Program.


Jenn Hilber, business architect, Convergint; chair of Convergint Women Connect affinity group
Jenn Hilber has 30 years of financial management experience, most of which has been spent within the security industry. She joined Convergint in 2010, serving in various financial and management roles, before becoming a business architect for global operations. In this role, Jenn supports Convergint’s Leveraged Services team, as well as global and enterprise account management. Jenn also serves as the chair of Convergint Women Connect, an affinity group within Convergint dedicated to making the company the most equitable and inclusive global service provider for women of all identities and backgrounds. She leads the global steering committee that engages women colleagues and their allies through a focus on advocacy, education, community and visibility.


Elaine Palome, HR director, Axis Communications
Elaine Palome is the director of human resources for the Americas at Axis Communications and a member of the Axis Americas management team.  In this role she oversees all human capital management activities for the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.  Elaine has over two decades of experience in all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition and development, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and strategic planning. Elaine is a frequent panelist, presenter, and author of articles involving issues surrounding business and the changing workforce. Her passion is connecting employees to the business through Transformational Leadership.  Prior to joining Axis, Elaine held human resources leadership roles in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and software industries.

Elaine has been a recipient of the Security Industry Association’s Progress Award, and a member of the inaugural Power 100 list; both of which recognize recipients who are role models for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and leadership in the industry.

Elaine holds the Society for Human Resources Senior Professional Certification (SHRM-SCP) as well as certifications in Process Communication, Predictive Index, BlueEQ Emotional Intelligence, and Conflict Dynamics as well a graduate degree in the biological sciences.


Erin Mann, city manager, Toronto, Latch
Erin Mann is the business vision and strategy manager at Latch. Prior to Latch, Erin worked for Allegion in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility between 2016-2021 in both Indianapolis and Toronto. Erin is currently on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) the vice-chair of SIA’s RISE Steering Committee for young professionals, a member of SIA’s Proptech Advisory Board, as well as being a member of the SIA Women in Security Forum and the Canadian Women in Security Forum. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Erin holds a B.A. in Communication from DePauw University and is currently based in Toronto.
