David Hyde, M.Sc, CPC, is a global cannabis industry advisor with seven-plus years hands-on experience guiding cannabis companies and governments on business/licensing strategy, regulatory/policy approaches, cannabis facility design/operations/security and corporate governance. David’s cannabis sector work spans 18 countries and includes engagements with multi-national cannabis companies, foreign governments, cannabis start-ups, R&D/testing companies, local governments and investors.
David advises governments on cannabis regulatory policy, licensing and compliance strategy. He supports cannabis businesses with business/licensing strategy, operational ramp-up, regulatory compliance and corporate governance. He conducts pre-acquisition due diligence for investors and buyers of cannabis business assets globally, working through an extensive network of cannabis sector experts operating around the globe (e.g., cultivation/GACP, quality/GMP, extraction/processing, facility designers/builders, global law firms, recruitment/HR, insurers, M&A firms, etc.).
David acts as a connector and strategic advisor on business transactions between investors/lenders and cannabis companies. He acts as an independent advisor to cannabis company Boards of Directors and C-Suite on matters of corporate governance, regulatory compliance and due diligence. He has worked on high profile files related to regulatory enforcement action, restructuring and Board governance within the cannabis sector.
