Jeff Hannah, Principal Consultant, JH & Associates
Jeff Hannah is a security, risk management, and regulatory professional with more than 15 years’ experience. Jeff is the Founder and Principal Consultant of JH & Associates, a security focused consultancy group providing services to the international cannabis industry. In Canada, JH & Associates has helped to prepare hundreds of federal license application working on more than one hundred successfully licensed facilities. Jeff has also worked on retail store applications across Canada as well as retail and producer applications in numerous US states.

Prior to regulatory consulting, Jeff worked in commercial property management and served as Manager of Security for Square One Shopping Centre which, at 1.7 million square feet, is one of Canada’s largest commercial retail properties. Jeff Has worked on national committees for both the Cadillac Fairview Corporation and Oxford Properties Group to develop and implement national risk assessment frameworks, emergency management/ business continuity strategy, as well as standards influencing the purchase and installation of electronic security systems.

Jeff also served as Director of Security and Safety for Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning which has more than 45,000 full and part time students across seven campuses.

Jeff holds a two-year diploma in Law and Security from Sir Sandford Fleming College. Jeff is also one of a few individuals in Canada to hold both the Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designations.


Tim Grose, Vice-President, Secure Integration, G4S
Tim Grose recently joined G4S Secure Solutions (Canada) Ltd. as vice-president, Secure Integration. In his new role, Grose leads the Secure Integration team in Canada with a focus on growing the business. Grose has more than 25 years of sales leadership experience in a variety of industries in Canada and the United States. Grose started in the security industry with a Toronto-based security company as their VP of sales. He was then promoted to SVP of sales and business development where he was responsible for opening offices in major city centres in Canada. During his tenure, Grose delivered consistent year-over-year growth of more than 30 per cent in his first four years. Most recently, Grose achieved success as area sales manager with Johnson Controls (JCI).


Daniel Bear, Professor, Humber College
Dr. Daniel Bear has a PhD and MSc in Social Policy (Research) from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His doctoral work at the LSE focused on the role of drugs in the policing practices of community policing teams. He completed his undergraduate work in Sociology (Hons) at The University of California at Santa Cruz. Before starting graduate school Dr. Bear worked for three years with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the largest civil rights law firm in the U.S. His work at the ACLU focused on cannabis policy and racial justice issues surrounding the war on drugs. He has conducted research on many areas of the criminal justice system, but is primarily focused the issues of cannabis policy and harm reduction. He has received a Colleges and Community Social Innovation Fund grant from NSERC to study how young people engaged with public education efforts about cannabis and leads the Canadian team for the Global Cannabis Cultivation Research Consortium. Dr. Bear is also a board member of the National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education (NICHE).
