University of Toronto buildings closed amid reports of armed man

Several buildings in the downtown Toronto core, including university and hospital facilities have been temporarily closed down while police investigate reports of a suspicious person seen on campus.

According to a report in the National Post:

Sick Kids Hospital was in lockdown and the University of Toronto shuttered its downtown campus on Monday morning as police investigated reports of a “suspicious person” with a gun.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said several people on campus reported seeing a “suspicious person” dressed in black, with a “surgical type” mask and a knapsack on campus. One 911 caller said the person had a gun, though police have yet to confirm that report. A witness photo of the person does not show he had a gun, Saunders said.
