Mississauga, Ont.-based Provincial Partitions says it installed a bulletproof cashiers booth for client, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) earlier this month.

The booth was installed in Union Station, the busiest transportation hub in Canada, which services upwards of 250,000 passengers each business day. To avoid any disruption during the busiest hours it was determined that an evening installation was required.

Working closely with TTC design staff, and their Glass Level 1 supplier, Provincial Partitions was able to customize their System 40 modular components to provide the necessary level of security. Along with the bulletproof panes, armour plate was installed and concealed within the wall cavities of the System 40 panels. Double door interlock access provided a secure entry, while drop safes were built right into the stainless steel counters. Pass-through service wickets along with an electronic intercom and video surveillance provided the final level of security.

According to Provincial Partitions, there was virtually no business interruption. The TTC has been a client of Provincial Partitions for more than 30 years.
