The Toronto Police Service, Canada’s largest municipal police force, has lost a total of 806 pounds after completing 60 days of INSANITY, the toughest workout program ever put on DVD.

Sponsored by Beachbody and the Toronto Police Amateur Athletic Association (TPAAA), the Toronto Police INSANITY Fitness Challenge ran from March 17 May 19. Working out as teams, police officers completed five Fit Tests and 52 INSANITY workouts. The INSANITY workouts are a combination of plyometric drills and nonstop intervals of strength, power, resistance, ab and core training moves.

Over 95 Toronto Police Officers successfully completed the challenge and all saw major improvements in their health and fitness. The team that lost the most weight dropped an incredible 81.6 pounds, with one team member losing 29 pounds in 60 days!

“Our officers work hard to be in top form for Toronto. The Insanity Challenge made it fun and created a real sense of camaraderie among stations,” said Mike Bagg, General Manager of the TPAAA. “806 pounds in 60 days is a huge accomplishment. We couldn’t be more proud of our officers.”

After losing 17 pounds, 5.7% body fat and three inches from his waist, Detective Sergeant Nunziato Tramontozzi said: “The hard work paid off. This is the best I have felt in 20 years. The program has improved my quality of life and is still paying off now.” Nunziato has continued working out with his team and has since lost an additional six pounds with Beachbody’s Focus T25 program.

In addition, Beachbody will donate $3,500 to the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund to recognize officers’ incredible results and commitment to completing the 60 day INSANITY program.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, June 14 at the annual Toronto Police Games, hosted at Downsview Park. Insanity challenge participants will first take part in a 30 minute live INSANITY workout at 11:00 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Media are welcome to attend.

The winning teams will score a Beachbody gym for their station, including a collection of Beachbody fitness programs, like P90X, Focus T25, and Insanity: The Asylum, plus an entertainment system. As part of the challenge Beachbody will also present a donation to the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund.
