The need for “more control” at Sudbury city council meetings is tightening up security at Tom Davies Square, reports The Sudbury Star.
Starting next month journalists are required to be accredited to attend council and committee meetings, sign in and out and have photo ID badges to access the chamber floor.
“We’re trying to create a barrier between citizens and staff,” said Brendan Adair, the city’s new manager of corporate security, at a media briefing Thursday. Before coming to work for the city six months ago, Adair worked in security for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
