
Stephenville security camera program working to curb illegal garbage dumping: mayor

News Public SectorAn expansion of last year’s security camera program to curb indiscriminate garbage dumping in the Town of Stephenville, NL is working, according to Mayor Tom O’Brien.
According to the Wester Star newspaper, O’Brien said the town applied for a grant through the Multi Materials Stewardship Board and received a grant of over $6,000 in the spring. The money provided training for town employees on the placement of cameras, how to collect the evidence and then use the evidence to follow through with prosecution in court.
