Canadian Security magazine collaborated with fellow Annex Business Media publications Blue Line and Fire Fighting in Canada to host a career expo designed to meet the needs of up and coming security professionals, police officers and firefighters.

Security•Police•Fire Career Expo, held March 7 at the International Centre in Mississauga, was a huge success, drawing 140 attendees from nearby colleges and universities. Visiting students met with 25+ booth vendors and 25+ industry mentors on hand to offer career advice. Keynote speaker Carmela Demkiw, senior director, corporate security services, Rogers Communications, spoke about her career in policing with the Toronto Police Service and her transition to private security in 2002. Demkiw dispensed advice on the role of business skills in security, integrating data and analytics into security programs to deliver value, the importance of following through with responsibilities, and other takeaways that everyone in the room, students and professionals alike, can integrate into their work lives.

Canadian Security would like to thank attendees for sharing their day with us, mentors for generously giving their time and sponsors for their continued support. Special thanks to lunch sponsor G4S Canada and keynote sponsor testreadypro.com.
