Canadian Security celebrated the achievements of Pat Patton, director of security and operations at the University of Regina, last week with a gala event, dinner and award ceremony. Patton is the recipient of the 11th Security Director of the Year award, sponsored by Anixter Canada, for her achievements in professional security, notably her involvement in the Man Up Against Violence movement.

MUAV brings awareness of the impact of gendered and sexual violence in a campus setting, helping to bring students into the conversation and examining the root behviour of violent acts. After receiving her award from Canadian Security publisher Peter Young and Anixter Canada senior vice-president Gary Mistak, Patton thanked her friends, family and colleagues for their support, in particular Roz Kelsey, a professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Regina who founded the MUAV movement and continues to support its development.
