Securitas avoids strike action

By The Canadian Press

News

Strike action has been averted for Securitas security guards who work at a number of locations in Newfoundland and Labrador, including Eastern Health facilities in St. John's.

A tentative agreement was reached last week on a new three-year contract after a conciliation meeting. The workers had voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action after the company sought a five per cent wage reduction and cuts to vacation benefits. Details of the agreement won’t be released until an upcoming ratification vote.
