Sean Sportun recently joined Montreal-based GardaWorld as the company’s national director of strategic accounts.
Sportun was previously manager of security and loss prevention for Circle K Stores Central Canada Division. During his 15 years with Circle K, Sportun led several community outreach programs, including “positive ticketing” — beverage coupons distributed to youth for positive behaviour — and the Circle K StreetART Mural initiative, a mural painting project for Circle K stores that has helped promote local pride and reduce neighbourhood crime. The mural initiative has since been the subject of a CPTED and loss prevention study in co-operation with Harvard University.
Sportun has been recognized with two Canadian Security awards. In 2013, he was named Canadian Security’s Security Director of the Year, and in 2019 received the annual Community Leader award. Sportun is also the chair of Toronto Crime Stoppers, and has served on the organization’s board since 2002.
