Security professional Michael Prochuk passed away in July at the age of 68 following a brief battle with cancer.

He is remembered by colleagues for his friendship, generosity and professionalism.

“Mike was passionate about the security industry. He was a trusted leader, mentoring many folks who are now in senior leadership positions in the security industry,” said Sherri Ireland, who worked with Prochuk at Intercon/Tyco for 10 years and is now president of consulting firm Security Exclusive.

“Mike knew how to build a capable team and then empower them to do their jobs and challenge them to stretch their goals,” continued Ireland. “Mike was a good friend to many in the industry. He and I stayed in touch over the years, as our careers took us in different directions. Mike’s sense of humour and friendship will be sorely missed by many of us.”

In addition to his time with Intercon/Tyco, Prochuk also worked with Chubb Security as national operations manager and most recently Securitas Canada as district manager.

In his free time, Prochuk enjoyed cooking, travel, outdoor pursuits and the Montreal Canadiens. A celebration of life will be held in his memory.
