Peel Crime Stoppers to host shredding event to raise identify theft awareness

Peel Crime Stoppers, in collaboration with Peel Regional Police, Blue-Pencil Information Security and Meridian Credit Union, will host a community document shredding event on Saturday, Sept. 18 with the aim to prevent identity theft and fraud.

The organizers are inviting local businesses and residents to bring their confidential records to be destroyed in a safe and convenient manner by a professional document shredding company in exchange for a donation.

This event will be a “drive-thru” format held in the parking lot of Peel Regional Police Headquarters in accordance with Ontario COVID-19 guidelines. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to meet “Stopper” the crime fighting K9 mascot. There will also be a DJ and Fitness group to make the experience more engaging.
