
Peek at patient records earns harsh response from Saskatchewan health region

News Data SecurityAn employee of a Saskatchewan health authority has been disciplined after the personal health data of 16 patients was breached.
The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region says the breaches took place between Dec 9 of last year and Jan. 10.
The region says the health information included prescription and lab information, and was viewed by a worker who was not involved in the patients’ care.
Details are not immediately available on the nature of the disciplinary action.
Officials say the affected patients have been informed of the breach.

They also say Saskatchewan’s information and privacy commissioner has also been told and has received a report on the health region’s investigation.
