Kevin Flynn, Ontario’s Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, ushered in the New Year with a thank-you statement to first responders and front-line workers.

The statement (posted on the Ministry website Dec. 28, 2016) reads:

Ontario’s first responders and staff in our institutions and communities work hard over the holidays and throughout the year to keep our communities safe.

Every day, thousands of police officers, firefighters, correctional and community staff across the province put themselves at risk to protect our homes, our communities and our families. Ontario is one of the safest jurisdictions in North America because of them.

These dedicated individuals spend time away from their families throughout the holiday season in order to protect the people of Ontario and keep us safe.

They deliver excellent service to our communities, clients and partners every day, and I look forward to continuing to work together in 2017 to make Ontario an even safer place.

So on behalf of our government and people across our province, I want to thank all first responders and front line workers for the work that they do.

Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
