NRC quantum photonics program to focus on encryption and hazard detection
By Canadian Security
News Industry NewsThe National Research Council of Canada (NRC) announces a new research program that will translate quantum photonics research into technology applications for Canada’s future economy.
Quantum photonics is the use of quantum systems to make devices that deliver measurement and communication solutions which cannot be achieved through conventional photonics. Working with clients and partners, the Quantum Photonic Sensing and Security research program will deliver early stage disruptive technology development, including prototype quantum systems.
Applications will focus on quantum encryption capabilities, photonic sensing equipment for the efficient extraction and processing of natural resources, and the ability to detect hazards from a safe distance using laser technologies.
