Montreal-based GardaWorld says it has "extended its Canadian roots deeper out west" this year with the appointment of two key executives.

In January this year, Steve Hoffman joined the company as vice-president of operations for the Pacific Region (including B.C. and Yukon territory). More recently, Scott Young was promoted to vice-president of operations for the Prairies Region.

Hoffman was previously Special Advisor to the Ministry of Justice in B.C., overseeing matters relating to safety and security across the Ministry of Attorney General and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Hoffman was awarded the Justice & Public Safety Sector award for innovation in 2017 and holds a CPP designation.

Young joined GardaWorld in 2001 and has participated in operations in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. He returns to Calgary with his latest appointment. Young is a past chair of ASIS International's Canadian Pacific Chapter and currently serves as Assistant Regional Vice President for the Young Professionals Program for ASIS Canada.

Young was previously named to SP&T News' Top 10 Under 40 list and recently participated in a roundtable discussion on the state of the guarding industry for Canadian Security magazine.

"In this fast-changing industry, relying on regional expertise to understand local issues is key to offering relevant security solutions," said Jean-Luc Meunier, Chief Operating Officer for GardaWorld Security Services in Canada, in a statement. "With leaders like these, the organization is in an excellent position to support its clients’ unique needs from coast to coast and promote the next generation of security professionals from within."
