BCIT voyeurism incidents: guidance for a PR crisis

BCIT is the latest educational institution learning how to deal allegations of sexual impropriety on campus. According to a story on CBC.ca, The British Columbia Institute of Technology is rethinking its communications strategy after recent media stories revealed that the college was aware of the arrest of an alleged voyeur on campus and the possibility of other such incidents, but chose not to reveal the information until months later.

One expert says that with this type of incident, more disclosure is probably better than less disclosure.

Another PR consultant told CBC that institutions need to get this kind of information out to stakeholders as soon as possible, as a matter of control.
