Founded in 1955, ASIS International is a global community of security practitioners, each of whom has a role in the protection of assets — people, property, and/or information.

Represented in Canada by 11 Chapters serving over 2,000 individual members, there are more than 100 Canadian volunteers who work to bring members and non-members alike access to local education and networking, and provide a vital connection to programs offered by ASIS International globally.

For 2022, we are welcoming some new leaders in various chapters across Canada, from East to West:

Chapter 2022 Chairperson
Atlantic Canada #202 Sean Scrivener, PSP
Quebec City #281 Jean-Benoit Bolduc
Montreal #196 Denis Bourget, CPP
Ottawa #140 Dan Corriveau, PSP, CPP
Toronto #193 Rick Snook, PSP
Southwestern Ontario #241 Brandon Partridge
Manitoba #198 Josh Ewatski
Saskatchewan #275 Chris Anquist
Calgary / Southern Alberta #162 Matt Vallis, CPP
Edmonton / Northern Alberta #156 Brent Bauman, PSP, CPP
Canadian Pacific #190 Brian Ison, CPP

Each chapter runs their own calendar of events throughout the year – from lunch meetings to golf tournaments – and most have sub-committees dedicated to initiatives like Certification, Women in Security and Young Professionals.  You do not need to be an ASIS member to attend a chapter event, and many are hosting free virtual events, so get in touch with your local chapter and see if they are hosting something that might appeal to you.

Supporting the chapters are a team of regional leaders under the ASIS Canada umbrella:

Senior RVP, Group 6 (Canada) Jason Caissie, PCI, PSP, CPP
Regional Vice President, Region 6A (East) Chris Clarke, PSP
Regional Vice President, Region 6B (ON & MB) Sloane Newton, CPP
Regional Vice President, Region 6C (West) Jody Reid
Assistant RVP, Region 6A (East) Stephane Veilleux, CPP
Assistant RVP, Region 6C (West) Helen Perry-Raycraft
Assistant RVP, Region 6C (West) Sam Stephens, CPP
Assistant RVP, Canada Night Marc Courville
Assistant RVP, Certification Al McDougall, PCI
Assistant RVP, Communications Kristina Dudumas, PSP, CPP
Assistant RVP, Finance Jacques Gagne, PSP, CPP
Assistant RVP, Women in Security Terri Govang, CPP
Assistant RVP, Young Professionals (East) Kyle Klein, CPP
Assistant RVP, Young Professionals (West) Ian Henderson, PSP

Of course, the crown jewel of ASIS Canada is Canada Night, a networking event hosted on the eve of the GSX conference each year in the United States.  We are excited and optimistic that Canada Night will make its post-pandemic return to GSX this year, on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 in Atlanta, Ga.  Venue details will be announced this summer, but we are currently seeking sponsors.  Visit the ASIS Canada website for more information and to get in touch about sponsoring Canada Night 2022!

And lastly, we are excited to be working alongside the brand new North American Regional Board of Directors, which was just formed in January 2022 as part of ASIS International’s five-year commitment to a new, more transparent governance structure.  We are fortunate to have three Canadians on that board in Mark Folmer, CPP; Susan Munn, CPP, and; Marti Katsiaras, PSP.  And we are looking forward to 2023, when we welcome Tim McCreight, CPP as Global ASIS President – the third Canadian to hold that office since 1955.
