
Disaster team takes over in Fort McMurray

News Industry NewsA disaster-response team deployed out of Calgary is managing the emergency operations centre in Fort McMurray, providing much-needed relief to local crews exhausted by the massive effort to fight a wildfire and evacuate residents.
The Calgary Herald reports that a team of 50 disaster-management specialists from across central and southern Alberta left for Fort McMurray Wednesday afternoon. The team is now playing a leading role co-ordinating firefighting operations and relief efforts.
The team, called Canada Taskforce 2, consists of search and rescue crews, paramedics, logistics specialists and emergency command staff.
