Cyber Security Awareness Month kicks off

News Industry NewsOctober is officially Cyber Security Awareness Month with governments and private sector organizations urging Internet users to be attentive to their online conduct as it affects their personal safety as well of those of their families and businesses.
The Government of Canada, through Public Safety Canada, has posted the following timeline to assist the public, as well as Canadian businesses, in getting ready for this awareness month and also as a reminder of the importance of online safety.
Week 1: October 3-7 – Launch of Cyber Security Awareness Month and General Cyber Security with the Get Cyber Safe Campaign
Week 2: October 10-14 – Cyber security for Small and Medium Businesses
Week 3: October 17-21, 2016 – Cybercrime
Week 4: October 24-29, 2016 – Internet of Things/Connected lives
Week 5: October 31 – Cyber and Critical Infrastructure
Public Safety has also posted a video from Minister Ralph Goodale and as well as links to other tools to help promote cyber security awareness. More information from the Ministry is available here.
As an international event, there are numerous resources available to help people recognize the importance of Internet safety.
