Contemporary Security Canada provided media a guided tour of its downtown Toronto location Thursday — a facility that houses its recruitment centre for the Pan Am/Parapan Games as well as classroom and training facilities.

“CSC is proud to be securing the largest multi-sport event in Canada’s history,” said Stephen Mirabile, CSC’s president and CEO, during a morning press conference. “Successful applicants will finish the games with marketable skills and valuable work experience.”

CSC plans to hire approximately 5,000 guards as part of an $81-million security contract awarded to the company earlier this year. CSC project director Derek Gagné said that 2,000 have been hired to date. “We’re looking for enthusiastic team players with great customer service skills. And, of course, we’re looking to hire as many experienced and licensed guards as possible,” he said.

Prospective job applicants must be able to work in Canada, be at least 18 years old, submit to necessary background checks and meet the physical requirements of the role. CSC is looking for both screeners/guards and supervisors. Leadership experience is preferred for the latter, said Gagné. CSC is offering to pay employees wages ranging from $19-21 an hour as well as providing free meals and uniforms.
