CATSA orders explosive trace detectors from Morpho

News TransportationThe Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has ordered 63 next-generation Itemiser DX desktop explosives trace detection systems from Morpho Detection, the explosives and narcotics detection business of Morpho. Valued at more than $2 million, these systems will be deployed to airports in Canada to support passenger and baggage screening efforts.
First certified by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in 2009, Itemiser DX utilizes Ion Trap Mobility Spectroscopy trace technology to simultaneously analyze both positive and negative ions from a single sample, providing threat and contraband detection.
“Morpho Detection is pleased CATSA has recognized the operational capabilities of Itemiser DX by placing their first order for this industry-leading desktop trace solution,” said Brad Buswell, president and CEO, Morpho Detection.
