By Canadian Security
News RetailNew outlets across the U.K. are reporting details of the security shortfall at Olympic sites in London.
According to a story published recently from AP, the British head of G4S is “deeply disappointed” and “very sorry” for a failure to provide enough guards for the international event.
The BBC is also reporting that U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May says she only learned of the guard shortage last week and the government took “immediate action” to remedy the situation — military and police have been called in to provide additional security.
According to an article in the Independent newspaper, “hundreds of police officers, in addition to 3,500 servicemen” will serve as security.
The Olympic Games Opening Ceremony is scheduled for July 27.
