ASIS Toronto scholarship program in full swing

News

The ASIS Toronto chapter has made some change to its annual student scholarship program for 2013, including an increase in value to security studies entrance scholarships and the addition of a second bursary. The scholarship program has been recognized as a best practice by the ASIS Foundation for its inclusiveness, accessibility and academic leadership required by students.

The scholarship program is designed for students pursuing a security studies program, regardless of their academic life cycle. Two $250 scholarships are available to students entering their first year of a program; and two bursaries, valued at $300 each, will be awarded to students currently enrolled in a security program at an accredited institution. Awards are distributed based on merit — students submit transcripts and letters of recommendation. There are also two additional security studies scholarships: one valued at $750, plus a $500 matching scholarship at the discretion of ASIS Foundation, which will be awarded to students based on a 1,000 word essay on a security-related subject. The final award in the ASIS Toronto Student Scholarship Program is a writing competition where research of a security concept is conducted and presented in a 1,500 – 2,000 word essay.  The winner of the writing competition will receive $1,000.  ASIS Toronto is currently accepting submissions for all awards. The submission deadline is May 1, 2013 for most awards except the Entrance Scholarship which ends Sept. 30, 2013. Download the pdf for more details.
