In an email alert, the Toronto chapter of ASIS International announced it has cancelled its April 16 Best Practices event in response to the growing threat of the COVID-19 virus. The chapter has hosted the annual event for more than 25 years.
According to the email, which was sent on March 16:
“This is a disappointing decision, especially after the long hours and energy our Best Practices Committee has put in organizing this huge annual event. However, the safety and well-being of all our members, sponsors and our community remains our main priority.”
The chapter says that full refunds will be provided in the coming days to anyone who has already registered for the event.
The Canadian Security Association (CANASA) also announced the postponement of the remainder of its March events. CANASA’s Security Canada East, originally scheduled for April 22 in Laval, Que., will also be rescheduled with a new date to be determined.
