The deadline is fast approaching for submissions to ASIS Toronto’s annual Security Practitioner Awards.

ASIS Toronto’s Security Practitioner Award recognizes the efforts of individuals in the security community. One award in each category of: Investigations, Front Line Security, Women in Security and Security Technology, will be awarded to recipients chosen from the Contract Security, Private Investigations, Corporate Security, Retail Loss Prevention, Tourism and Hospitality, Health Care, Government, Transportation and IT security sectors. And this year the association is adding Security Educator to the line up of awards presented.

Submissions will be received until the end of August by the Program Committee, Security Practitioner Award Representative, and presented to the Program Committee, once they have been edited removing the nominee’s name, organization and any other details that may identify the nominee or their employer. Once a short list of nominees has been decided on by the Program Committee, the Program Committee will present the short list to the chapter executive for winner selection.

Award Categories:

The award recipient will have demonstrated exceptional investigative ability in solving an occurrence.

Front Line Security:
The award recipient, who regularly wears a security uniform, including suits or other attire in accordance with the employer’s requirements, will have demonstrated exceptional service and results in their role as a front line security practitioner.

Women in Security:
The female award recipient will have demonstrated strong leadership qualities and promoted the membership of women in the security industry.
Awards will be presented during the October Security & Law Enforcement Appreciation Awards event.  At that time the recipient’s manager will be asked to give a brief synopsis of the recipient’s actions that led to their nomination, and ultimately their selections as the award recipient.

Security Educator:
This award is presented in partnership with the College Committee to promote security education. The award recipient, who provides instruction on security subject matter, will have displayed exceptional ability in educating and developing security skill sets in others. This experience is normally acquired by an educator who is employed in a fulltime capacity in a trainer or educator role.
