American Dynamics have added to their Illustra series of cameras with the 600 (720p) and 610 (1080p) High Definition (HD) Mega-Pixel cameras.

The new Illustra 600 Series was designed to simplify installation and refine how security directors can take advantage of HD-quality video. Three built-in mounting mechanisms, auto-focus and zoom and a compact form factor reduce the time and cost of installation.  Superior, mega-pixel video is provided using the latest sensors and lenses and integrated H.264 compression.

“With the Illustra 600 Series Mini-Domes, we are changing the paradigm for installability,” said Steve Carney, Senior Product Manager for American Dynamics.  “The ability to remotely focus, zoom, name and configure the cameras, enables integrators to simply mount and point the camera and then manage the rest of the installation from the security office.”

The rugged outdoor mini-dome combines several unique design elements to ensure performance, even in extreme cold and wet conditions. “The built-in heater ring in the Illustra 600 mini-dome has the ability to stop condensation before it has a chance to form,” added Carney. “Eliminating condensation is key to consistently delivering the resolution that customers demand, regardless of the operational conditions. Targeted condensation elimination, heater operation over PoE+, and IP67 environmental ratings set this camera apart in rugged outdoor applications.”

Superior image quality and unique bandwidth management give the Illustra 600 Series further advantage versus competitive mega-pixel cameras.  In low-light conditions, Illustra shines, providing crystal-clear images as low as at .02 lux.  For wide-angle applications, an integrated Theia wide angle lens ensures a clear picture without any distortion.

“Our focus with the Illustra 600 Series is to give security directors and integrators powerful capabilities to better manage bandwidth and resolution, while at the same time simplifying installation.  Illustra is powerful example of American Dynamics bringing our 20 years of security industry experience to the IP camera field,” noted Warren Brown, Director of Product Management for American Dynamics. “Combined with our victor/VideoEdge open-platform video management system and affordable storage solutions, this launch represents a further step forward in our strategy to be the leading provider of end-to-end, open-platform IP video solutions.”

The Illustra 600 cameras are compatible with VideoEdge NVR v4.01, HDVR, and are ONVIF compliant, providing customers with greater flexibility in being readily interoperable to their choice of recording platforms.  The Illustra 600 Series comes in three form factors of indoor mini-dome, outdoor vandal resistant mini-dome, and box model, and are available through American Dynamics’ worldwide distribution channels.
