{mosimage}Axis Communications has announced the AXIS 215 PTZ network camera, designed for areas that require both overview and zoom functionality.

Visual Defence Inc., a security convergence company, recently announced the second generation of its Command and Control Center (3C), its common management software platform for comprehensive security management.

According to the company, 3C 2.0 provides an enhanced ability to mitigate and control risk by providing clients a customized platform to converge multiple security systems including CCTV, intercom, access control, perimeter detection, fire alarm, building management and traffic management. It integrates traditional analogue components with newer digital technologies and works with cameras, digital video recorders and other subsystems from nearly any vendor, the company says. 3C 2.0 unites mapping, video and alarm management functionality and relays the information on a triple screen display that includes a video and asset management screen, alarm management and response screen, and multi-level mapping screen.

The mapping functionality, Visual Defence says, has been extended to integrate the geographical location of assets like cameras, intercoms, help phones and fire alarms, enabling security guards and law enforcement officials to respond more quickly. Designed for large-scale installations, the system can handle up to 2,000 events/alarms per minute and more than 100,000 events/alarms per day.

As well, it provides operators all relevant risk information within a central system, which Visual Defence says creates fast, intelligent event response by reducing the risk and time associated with gathering and interpreting data from individual systems.

Lumenera Corp., a an Ottawa-based developer and manufacturer of digital cameras and imaging solutions, recently released the Lw11059 series of CCD megapixel USB 2.0 cameras, targeted to industrial, security and scientific applications requiring ultra-high resolution and low-light performance.

The cameras, which feature 4008x2672 resolution and on-board processing, are designed for applications including display and document inspection where optical performance is important throughout the entire image, including its edges. According to the vendor, uncompressed images such as streaming video and still image capture are provided across a USB 2.0 digital interface, meaning no framegrabber is required.

The series is available with a hardware- and software-based synchronization trigger, and is available with three different lens mount options: Lw11059 with a Canon Bayonet-Style Mount; Lw11058 with a K-Mount; and the Lw11057 with an F-Mount.

HID Global has introduced its new Edge family of IP-based access control solutions featuring the new OPIN technology platform.

The EdgeReader is an integrated contactless smart card reader and access control processor, and the EdgePlus is an access control processor that works with any reader. According to the vendor, the new IP-ready products eliminate the need for the access controller to reside ìin the closetî and allow simplified connection to IT infrastructures.

Edge solutions incorporate the new OPIN API, permitting an organization to make host software choices without the need to install new hardware. Edge solutions are also Power-over-Ethernet ready (PoE), allowing all building facilities to use standard Cat 5/6 wiring.

Unlike traditional access control hardware, Edge makes the access control decisions right at the door, eliminating the possibility of a single point of failure that affects multiple doors, the company says.

The Edge family includes the Edge Solo, a stand-alone solution for single-door applications. Its built-in software enables it to work without a host application. It can also be remotely managed through a standard Web browser. The Edge Host solution, designed for larger systems with thousands of doors and multiple facilities, ties back to an enterpriseís host software. EdgeReader and EdgePlus are available in both Solo and Host versions.

Videx, a designer and manufacturer of access control and data collection products, has debuted its CyberLock electronic cylinders for use in refineries, pipelines and remote oil and gas well sites.

CyberLock electronic cylinders are designed to replace mechanical lock hardware and padlocks with a full-functioning access control system. Each device contains a microprocessor and memory and is designed to the exact dimensional standards of the mechanical cylinder it is replacing.

According to the company, the electronic CyberLock cannot be picked or duplicated, and installation requires no hardwiring or structural changes. The system consists of the pick-proof CyberLock cylinder and the CyberKey that cannot be duplicated. Both the lock and the key store an audit trail of events that allows management to track service technicians and subcontractors that visit their sites.

CyberLocks can be installed on doors to buildings sheltering control panels, on cabinets housing equipment, and in padlocks on gates securing well sites, and provide management with the ability to set access privileges and view the audit trail of activity at various sites in their region all from one central office location.
