Threats that closed Maritimes schools “not credible”

College campuses in Nova Scotia and schools in P.E.I. were evacuated on Sept. 21 due to bomb threats received by fax. After searching the affected buildings at Nova Scotia Community College, police concluded the threats were “not credible,” CBC News reported. The threats to P.E.I. schools were also deemed “not credible.”

“It would appear that one or more individuals is sending out these blanket messages to create havoc,” RCMP Sgt. Kevin Bailey said at a news conference regarding the P.E.I. closures. “Similar in Nova Scotia and at least one school in the U.S.”
