RCMP hands G20/G8 screening contract to Contemporary Security

Written by  Jennifer Brown May 31, 2010
The same company that held the contract to provide the bulk of the security screening at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics will provide the same service at the upcoming G8 and G20 Summits in Ontario.

Todd Severson, project director with Contemporary Security Canada (CSC), who led the Olympic security force that included 5,000 guards, confirmed Monday that the RCMP has awarded the contract to Contemporary.

“I can confirm that Contemporary Security Canada was selected by the RCMP to provide security screening services for the upcoming G8 and G20 meetings in Huntsville and Toronto, Ontario,” Severson said in a statement.

“CSC is responsible for providing pedestrian security screening services at G8 and G20 sites in the Greater Toronto Area.”
