The company announced Nov. 23 that 190 new trains for Metronet Rail, which will operate on the London Underground's sub-surface lines (SSL), will be fitted with the Bombardier SEKURFLO transit security solution. 

The video surveillance component of the SEKURFLO system is jointly designed and developed by Bombardier Transportation and March Networks. The systems will be installed in the new trains during production at Bombardier's plant in Derby, UK.  The first new SSL train will enter passenger service on the Metropolitan line in 2009.  

With more than 3 million passenger trips per day, the London Underground is one of the largest metro systems in the world.  Metronet Rail is investing  $30 billion US over 30 years to upgrade nine of the 12 London Underground lines. The SEKURFLO solution will be used by operations staff to capture video for monitoring the safe and efficient flow of passengers along with supporting the efficiency of operations.  The system will also  incorporate intelligent video analytics to enhance the reliability and quality of the surveillance system.

March Networks also recently signed a $17 million project with the Toronto Transit Comission.
