The University of Guelph has chosen Genetec’s IP Video Surveillance Solution Omnicast to secure its students and faculty.
Located in southern Ontario, the University of Guelph is renowned
around the world as a research-intensive institution. The
university has 18,000 students on campus every year.
According to Don Peer, Information Systems Manager — Campus Community Police, Fire Prevention and Parking Services, “Omnicast is extremely intuitive and well designed, which makes training new users effortless. Omnicast is also surprisingly stable, we are extremely satisfied with the solution.”
Although the University of Guelph already had an IP video surveillance system in place, it required a video surveillance solution to monitor and control access to all entryways located on campus, which covers an area of 4.1 km2.
Omnicast already manages more than 40 cameras located around the campus from one central location and is integrated to the university’s legacy IP system. The institution foresees an expansion of their Omnicast solution in the near future.
The University of Guelph also recently had the opportunity to experience the beta version of Omnicast 4.0. and plans to upgrade to 4.0 in the near future.
