The president of the Canadian Society for Industrial Security (CSIS) is stepping down after three terms in office.
Graham Ospreay of Newmarket, Ont. has guided the society through some
difficult times including the sudden departure almost two years ago of
executive director Gordon Pinder. Since then Ospreay and CSIS executive
director, Bob Marentette, have worked to build and maintain membership
in the society.
Nominations are now being accepted for the position of president of the society. Any CSIS member may nominate a member for this position and is required to submit in writing with their proposal (which is required to be seconded) and have the nominee’s written permission to stand for election. If required, voting for the president’s position will take place at the Annual General Meeting.
The Annual General Meeting of CSIS will be held in Toronto at the Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Road starting at 1 p.m.. An agenda for this meeting along with any proxy votes will be sent to members 45 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
The CSIS annual conference will again be held in conjunction with the CANASA’s Security Canada Central Conference. The CSIS Conference will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre from October 18-19. The Conference will be focusing on convergence and offer sessions on topics such as IP-based video, intelligent video, converting to an IP based video system and single platform systems. Other sessions will include presentations on Workplace Violence and Insurance.
All members will be sent more information on the conference by the end of June month.
